Paul H. Trattner epitomizes an itinerant
performer circa 1750 to 1850 traveling the mid-Atlantic colonies of
Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania bringing news from the major townships
of Williamsburg, Annapolis, Washington, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Sometimes
conveying the news in song, a puppet play in verse, and even offering
some medieval liniment; for a price, to cure whatever aches or pains might
be ailing you. He might cut a silhouette
of you or your loved one or read the bumps on your head using the science
of ‘Phrenology’.
rofessor
Trattner will amaze, amuse, and yes even astound
you as he performs his “Curious and Innocent Diversions for Parlor
and Refined Gatherings”. Some call these diversions magic and others
science as so often the twain do meet.
